Sharks

This blog is on Sharks. You will learn all about sharks and see some species of sharks. The first thing I am going to blog about is how something is classified as a shark.
To be classified as a shark you need to have rough skin like scales. They are only rough when you rub them from tail to head.Sharks have excellent smelling and eye sight.A shark can see it's prey from 100-200 feet away in clear water.Sharks they reproduce sexually. They lay eggs and if they can't find food for the cubs they eat them.

This is what a shark egg looks like.

The next thing is that, well you know those movies about sharks like Jaws. Those things are fake and betray sharks. Most sharks are not dangerous. When sharks bite someone that means they are confusing you with a fish or seal. When they first bite you they will stop and go away because they know they made a mistake. There are only 30 out of 375 sharks that are dangerous.I know some sharks that are dangerous like the thrasher, bull and great white sharks.

The next thing I am going to blog about is the different types of sharks.I am going to put several sharks on this blog.If you leave a comment, tell me your favorite type of shark.

The first one is my favorite the Great White shark.

The next one is a prehistoric shark. This is not a real picture,it is a painting a person made by looking at it's fossils. It is called the Megaladon.

The first shark I am going to blog about is the Great White. It can weigh up to 2,500 pounds. They are very dangerous.Their speed can reach up to 25 miles per hour.If you were in the water with one you would not be able to escape. This is the shark that gave other sharks a bad name. This shark lives in temperate seas. That means in weather like what it is in Australia. The great white eats Fish, sharks, sea lions and seals. It can also live up to 30 years.

The next one is the Megaladon. The Megaladon's other name is the Giant tooth. The Megaladon's teeth can reach up to 7 inches. That is amazing that it's teeth are bigger than half a foot. The great white shark's teeth are 2.5 inches. The Megaladon is one of the very few dangerous sharks.

Here is a picture showing how big a Megaladon is compared to a great white.

Well thats my blog and I hope you leave a comment on what is your favorite shark.

Fish the under water animals

This blog is about FISH!This blog is going to explain what a fish needs to have to be classified as a fish and how they breathe under water.
The first thing I am going to blog about is how fish are classified and what something needs to have to be a fish.First a fish needs to have fins.Fins help fish move or swim around. The next thing is that it needs to be cold blooded. That means that a fish can change its temperature to the temperature that is around it.The last thing a fish needs to be called a fish is gills.Gills help fish breathe under water. Fish take in water through their mouth and go through their circulatory system then out of their gills.Their membranes protect their gills.Fish are streamlined which helps them move around easily and fast.
Fish are the oldest living vertebra's.That means they are the oldest organism that has a backbone. There are three groups of fish bony, jaw less, and cartilaginous.
Bony fish is the largest group.Bony fish have bones.Bony fish use swim bladders to be bouyant like to go up and down in the water.
The cartilaginous group is in the middle. In this group there are sharks, rays, skates and more. Those animals all have something in  common,it's that they do not have bones.Their bones are made of cartilage.
The last group is the jaw less fish. You probably know that they do not have jaws. There are two types of jaw less fish hag fish and lamprey. They both suck on their food. There use to be more than sixty species of jaw less fish, but now there is only two species left. The fishes that are extinct are now fossils.

Classification

Classification is used to help scientist find a certain organism easier.I will show you the steps of classification in this blog.
The organism  I am going to classify is the beagle. Here are the steps of classification.
DOMAIN
KINGDOM
PHYLUM
CLASS
ORDER
FAMILY
GENUS
SPECIES

The first one is the domain. The domain was just recently found. It contains the most organisms. The beagle belongs in the domain eukaryote. The eukaryote are all organisms that are not bacteria. Some examples of things that are in this group are beagles, maple, trees, cockroaches, sharks, shrimp, wolves,Monkeys,Whales and amoebas.

The next group is the kingdom.the kingdom shows what kingdom an organism belongs in.The beagle belongs in the animal kingdom. Some  examples of the animal kingdom are beagles, cockroaches, sharks, shrimp,German Shepard,Monkeys,Whales and wolves.

The next group is the Phylum. The beagle belongs in the group chordata, and that means it has a backbone. Here are some examples of what belong in chordata.Beagles,German Shepard,

Sharks,Coyotes,Wolves,Whales,and Monkeys.

The next group is the Class. The beagle belongs in the group mamalia or mammal. The whale does not belong in this group because it does not have fur or feed its babies milk. The examples in this group are Monkeys,Coyotes,Beagles,Bobcats,German Shepard and Wolves.

The next step is the Order. The beagle belongs in the group           carnivora or carnivore. That means that it eats meat. The monkeys do not belong in this group because they do not eat meat.

The next group is the Family. The beagle belongs in the group canine or canis. That means all dogs go into this group. The cat does not belong in this group because it is a cat or feline. The animals that are left are the Wolves,Coyotes,German Shepard, and the beagle.

Genus is the next group.A dogs scientific name is canis lupus. That is describing every type of dog.So the examples do not change.

The last group is the most specific group. There is a special name for every animal. It is called the  binomial name. The beagle's scientific name is canis lupus familiaris.

That is my blog hoped you liked it.

The Six Kingdoms

Have you ever wondered how different things are classified and what they have to have to be classified into that group?Well this blog is going to explain it to you.The reason scientist classify living organism is to make keeping track of organisms a lot easier. The Six kingdoms are animals, archaebacteria, eubacteria, protist, fungi, and plants.

The first one I am going to be talking about is the ARCHAEBACTERIA.The archaebacteria group means that the organisms have only one cell.Archaebacteria means that every thing in it's group is ancient or old. They were the first living things on the growing Earth. They do not have a nucleus. These type of bacteria are found in extreme weather like the bottom of an ocean or in a hot geyser. They have their own groups because they are made up of different chemicals.

HERE IS A PICTURE OF ARCHAEBACTERIA.

The next group is also a bacteria group, but is a little bit different from the last kingdom. The group is called the EUBACTERIA.Eubacteria are one celled organisms and do not have a separate nucleus.Portions of this group are able to get their own food. They are the same compared to other organism except for archaebacteria chemically.

The next group I am going to talk about are the PROTISTS.The organisms in the protist kingdoms have one cell and some have many cells. This group has a nucleus. The amoeba's and paramecium have only one cell and eat off of other organism's.The euglena's and the algae make their food through photosynthesis. The last two examples of protist are slime mold's and diatom's.Diatom's have a hard cell wall protecting them and they look like glass.

The next group I am going to do is the FUNGI group. The organisms in this group can be single celled or multi celled. They have cell walls and reproduce by spores.Spores are things that fungi shoot out and plant itself in the ground.Fungi's cell walls are made up of cellos.Fungi live on their food for their entire life.Fungi are decomposers.Which means that they clean up the ecosystem by eating other dead organisms. Most fungi are mushrooms and yeast.

The next kingdom is the Plant kingdom!Plants are multi cellular and  have a cell wall in every cell. They have a cell membrane behind the cell wall. All plants have to be able to make their own food through photosynthesis which takes sunlight and turns it into food. Some examples of plants are maple trees, pine trees, ferns dandelions, moss, roses, and potatoes.

The last kingdom is the ANIMAL group.Animals are made up of many cells.I belong in the animal, you belong in it too and everyone around you belongs in this group. Our cells ave a separate nucleus and is protected by a cell membrane. All animals have to go get their food by eating other organisms.Animals are divided into two major groups organisms that have a backbone (vertebrates) and organisms that do not have a backbone (invertebrates).Examples of organisms with backbones are frogs, fish, lizards, humans, dogs, cats, and Eagles.Examples of organisms without backbones are jelly fish, coral, worms, slugs, and sea stars.
I am done with my blog, hope you liked it and here is a video.

Endocrine System

Are you saying "what is the Endocrine System is?"Well I am Writing about it in this blog.

The first thing you are going to learn about is the Pituitary gland. The Pituitary gland is located near your brain and is the size of a pea.It tells your body to grow.Girls tend to grow earlier than boys, but boys grow for a longer period of time.
Here is a picture of the pituitary gland.

The next thing that we are going to talk about is the Pancreas. The Pancreas controls your sugar levels by creating hormones. These hormones are called insulin and glucose.Insulin works to take away glucose(sugar)so you don't have to much sugar in your bloodstream.Glucose have an opposite effect on your sugar levels,it raises your blood sugar when they are low.If your pancreas does not produce enogh insulin you may have type 1 diabetes.

Blood types

What are blood types? That is the question we are going to be answering. There are four types of blood groups. They are A,B,AB,and O.You need to know your blood type because if you are in an accident and you need more blood.I don't know what my blood type is yet.It is important donated blood because if you get some other blood donated the former blood cells will die.
The O group are called universal doners because they can donate to any blood group, but they can only recieve blood from the O group. The AB group can recieve blood from any group, but can only donate to the AB grop. The B group can not donate to the A group.
Thats it,hope you found what you were looking for.

Digestion

This blog is on Digestion and how it works.Did you ever wonder how you digest food?         Well you will learn about that in a very short period of time
The first thing is that digestion begins in your mouth. You use your teeth to chew and make your food smaller so you can swallow. These little things called salivary glands produce saliva constantly so you can chemically break down food. You are probably wondering how you taste your food. These little things called are called taste buds and each set can only taste one type of flavor. After the food is broken down your tongue pushes your food down your esophagus.

In the esophagus there is a muscle contraction which pushes the food down into the stomach. In the stomach there is a chemical that breaks down food and it is called hydrochloric acid. The reason the acid can be in your stomach is that your stomach has a layer of mucus that protects your stomach from being burned.

The next part of digestion is the small intestine. The small intestine starts from the stomach. The small intestine can be from thirteen to twenty feet long!Wow that is pretty long. These little things called villi absorb nutrients to get sent to the rest of the body.Once the food gets to the end of the small intestine it is the beginning of the large intestine.
The large intestine starts at the end of the small intestine. The large intestine is 5 feet long!It is shorter than the small intestine but it is wider. The large intestine's main job is to remove water from the waste so you do not get dehydrated. When the food is completely dry it is sent to the rectum. The waste piles up then goes to the anus. When it gets there your in the bathroom.

Here is a video on the process of Digestion.

Well that is my blog and I hope you enjoyed it.
